UIowa has an LGBT Resource Center ( http://imu.uiowa.edu/lgbt/ ), and they are members of the Consortium for Higher Education LGBT Professionals.

Nondiscrimination Statement

LGBT Student Resources is under the Dean of Students Office.  There is a Rainbow Reception to welcome queer students back to school in the fall, and a Prom in April.

Dr. Scharmann explained that UNI was formerly a Normal School, i.e., Iowa State Teachers College.  Cedar Falls is approximately 6% more expensive than Manhattan, KS with housing being 17% more expensive.  However, Waterloo is 2% less expensive overall than Manhattan, KS with housing being 12% less expensive than Manhattan, KS.
