HBCUs

U.S. News and World Report lists the HBCUs with their rankings, including regional colleges and unranked colleges.  Langston University is unranked; I was surprised by this.  In addition, I was completely unable to find employment opportunities on Langston's website.  Several HBCUs are affiliated with specific Christian denominations and do not include sexual orientation in their non-discrimination statements.  I have not found gender identity or gender expression included in any HBCU non-discrimination statement (yet).  Here are a few of the HBCUs that I would consider being employed by even though they may not include s.o. in their statements.  If the school is part of a larger system that include s.o. and/or gender id/expression at other larger campuses or if a specific department or program includes s.o. and/or gender id/expression, then I feel more comfortable giving them a chance.

Prairie View A&M, Prairie View, TX

For instance, Texas A&M University does not include sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression in its non-discrimination statement.  However, I found sexual orientation mentioned on the student employment application, the social work program, and the clinical psychology program only; not in the non-discrimination statement for this 1890 campus.

Jackson State University, Jackson, MS

Jackson State does not include sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression in its non-discrimination statement.  However, sexual orientation is included in the non-discrimination statements for Communicative Disorders, for the Counseling center, and for on-campus housing.

Clark Atlanta University, Atlanta, GA

Clark Atlanta includes sexual orientation and gender identity in its non-discrimination statement.

Tougaloo University, Tougaloo, MS

Tougaloo includes sexual orientation and gender identity in its Title IX statement.

Fisk University, Nashville, TN

Fisk includes sexual orientation in its employment handbook non-discrimination statement, but not on the homepage statement.

Tuskegee University, Tuskegee, AL

Tuskegee includes sexual orientation and gender identity in its non-discrimination statement.

Spelman College, Atlanta, GA

Spelman includes sexual orientation and gender identity in its non-discrimination statement.
