Spring 2014

Fall 2014 cover letter and applications have gone out to:  University of Kansas (WGSS, Nov 4); University of Wyoming (COE, Nov 15); University of Northern Iowa (COE, Nov 15); University of Central Arkansas, Conway (COE, Nov 20); Oklahoma State University (Social Foundations, Dec 1); and Northeastern State University, Tahlequah, OK (COE, Dec 15); in addition, a local application went out to the Flint Hills Job Corps (glorified van driver, Dec 13).

There is a GLBTIQ Student Retention Services which is connected to other student services for queer students.  Safe Space participants are faculty, staff, and students.  There is a Presidential Commission on GLBTIQ Initiatives.    In the Atlanta metro area, there are two co-housing projects; each is 30-45 minutes from Kennesaw.

[Note:  I decided not to apply for this position because I felt that I did not have some of the qualifications they were looking for, such as being experienced in creating and offering both hybrid and online curriculum and courses.]

There are several organizations for students, faculty and staff.  There are no cohousing communities in the Ames area.  PFLAG has a chapter in Ames.  MCC has a congregation in Des Moines.

There is an LGBT resource center on campus; in addition, Brandelyn Tesolt coordinates "the Allied Zone, a training program to promote a supportive campus climate for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender stakeholders."  Joy Simpson (Topeka, KS) is the pastor of the MCC in Cincinnati.  There is a women's chorus, MUSE, in the greater Cincinnati area as well.
